Dick, this is outside the Globe Theatre on the South Bank. It's a quote from Shakespeare's Henry VIII:
"Men's evil manners live in brass; their virtues
We write in water."
Keats' epitaph, which I think he wrote himself, must be a reference to this.
It's a beautiful sculpture, I've never seen it. Well photographed too, Jean.
I didn't know Keats ('Here lies on whose name is writ in water', I think...) was picking up on Shakespeare.
