Sigh. Used to go and watch the madrigals on the river every year, the joined punts with chinese lanterns drifting off to the south in a sort of preraphealite gauze.

May I say that your subjects themselves are "faffing"? Is that a proper use of the word?
Might you be employing "faffed" as a play on words, or ironically? I found a site that posted the hex #FAFFED, kind of a creamy, bland color.
